Premium Materials

Only the finest
materials

We source materials that last decades, not years. Every fabric is selected for its durability, appearance and suitability for the application.

Italian Leather

Sourced directly from the local Italian Leather Company. Available in a full spectrum of colours and finishes — wax leather, nappa, distressed and more.

Marine Vinyl

Specifically engineered for marine, automotive and commercial applications where wear and UV exposure are a concern.

Suede

We work with Dinamica — an Italian-designed, Japanese-engineered microsuede produced using recycled polyester and a solvent-free water-based process. Dinamica is breathable, hypoallergenic, lightweight, washable and highly resistant to UV fading — making it the premium choice for automotive interiors worldwide. Its colours remain vivid and unaltered over time across the full chromatic scale.

We also source Alcantara — the iconic Italian luxury suede used by the world's top automotive manufacturers and fashion houses. Ultra-soft, exceptionally durable and available in a wide range of colours, Alcantara elevates any interior to a truly premium level. Available on request.

Serafil Thread

Serafil is produced by the AMANN Group — a renowned German thread manufacturer with a heritage dating back to 1854. A continuous filament polyester thread trusted by luxury brands and automotive manufacturers worldwide, Serafil delivers exceptional seam strength, a subtle sheen and outstanding abrasion resistance. Available in an extensive range of colours and multiple thread sizes — from the bold Tex 270 (Size 10) through to the refined Tex 45 (Size 60) — ensuring the perfect weight for every application, from heavy leather to fine decorative stitching.

Our Story

Craftsmanship born
in Hawke's Bay

My name is Elroy Shum. I grew up in the sunny Hawke's Bay before making my way to Auckland, where I attended Sacred Heart College. In 1994 I began my upholstery career as an apprentice under a family friend — learning every skill from the ground up, starting with sweeping the workshop floor.

Over the next three decades I expanded from furniture into bespoke automotive and marine upholstery. Today, Luxstitcht operates out of our own workshop in Papakura, Auckland — where every project is designed, crafted and quality-checked in-house by our skilled team.

We believe that the materials you sit on, drive in and live with should be exceptional. Every thread, every panel and every stitch reflects a genuine commitment to quality that simply cannot be faked.
